You may not have participated in some activities since last year.\u00a0 Muscles and joints you haven\u2019t used for a while can become sore and painful if you\u2019re not stretching properly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Try this: Get an elastic band or hair elastic and hold each end between your thumb and pointer fingers in each hand. Stretch until it feels like the band will snap! Then bring the band back to where you started. The \u2018snap\u2019 point or \u2018end point\u2019 of a stretch is not a point you should try to reach when stretching a muscle!&nbsp; Remember this if you\u2019re tempted to overstretch to avoid injury.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Stretching Tips<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; stretch before and after activities<br>&#8211; don\u2019t overstretch = don\u2019t stretch to the \u2018 end point\u2019<br>&#8211; stretch slowly without bouncing and to where you feel a slight easy stretch<br>&#8211; hold the stretch for 15 -20 seconds<br>&#8211; breathing should be slow, deep, and rhythmical<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In time, you\u2019ll be able to stretch further and further but never to the \u2018 end point\u2019.
